HARL's Level III MH Group Home is one of the few residential programs in North Carolina for young people in care, who identify as LGBTQIA+, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning. Our program provides 24-hour care in a uniquely affirming and healing environment. We operate a family-like residential home in Kinston, NC, that provides a safe, supportive and nurturing space for these youth, as they learn to manage their mental health challenges, while they strive for self-awareness and community, family and school acceptance.
HARL’s Free 2 Be Me Program Model, assures our youth that they are in a safe space. This allows them to be able to freely participate in specialized therapeutic activities, including Individual and Group Therapy, with our Licensed Clinical Professional, where they specifically address experiences related to gender dysphoria, the coming-out process, identity, social acceptance, and other relevant issues.
Harper & Associates Residential Living operates four adult group homes across North Carolina, designed to support adults with Severe Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) and/or Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). Each home provides 24-hour care and supervision, ensuring residents have access to a stable and nurturing environment. In addition to personalized care, the program offers a range of services and activities, including medication management, social skills training, life skills development, recreational activities, therapy, vocational support, and community integration activities including regular social outings, all aimed at enhancing residents' overall quality of life and independence.
Harper & Associates offers Community Living Support services to adult individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities who live independently in one of our Independent Living Apartment Communities. These supportive services are designed to help these individuals maintain independence while living on their own home. These services are highly individualized and person-centered, aimed at promoting autonomy, enhancing quality of life, and
fostering community integration.
Support staff work directly with individuals to
assist in areas such as:
- Daily living activities
(e.g., cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene)
- Medication reminders
and adherence to treatment plans
- Skill development
(e.g., budgeting, social skills, and problem-solving)
- Access to community resources
(e.g., transportation, social services, and recreational activities)
- Health and safety monitoring
The level of support is flexible and based on each individual’s unique needs. The goal is to empower clients to live fulfilling lives while providing the necessary supports to ensure their health, safety, and well-being in the community.
